The BJP on Sunday (May 24, 2026) accused the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of being part of a “conspiracy”, along with various other opposition parties and the “Toolkit Gang”, to spread anarchy and destabilize the country.
In a post on X, Union Minister Piyush Goyal cited a news report which claimed that Mr Gandhi had reportedly said at a meeting of the Congress Minority Advisory Committee on Saturday (May 23) that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government would fall within a year due to “growing economic discontent”.

“Rahul Gandhi’s statement points to a massive conspiracy involving the Congress party along with various other opposition parties and the ‘Toolkit Gang’ that dreams of destabilizing India. It is not an ordinary statement. Rather, it represents a serious conspiracy to sow anarchy in the country,” Goyal said.
The Union minister alleged that Mr. Gandhi and his associates were trying to incite violence across the country because they realized that Mr. Modi enjoyed deep public support and that the BJP could not be defeated in a direct democratic contest.
“Their hatred for India is so deep that they simply cannot bear to witness anything positive happening in the country. The act of maligning the country, belittling constitutional institutions and traveling to foreign soil to appeal to outside powers to interfere in India’s internal affairs clearly reveals the true intentions of the Congress party,” he said.
“The people of this country are demanding. They fully understand the true nature of Rahul Gandhi, the opposition and the ‘tool gang’ working against national interests. The public has repeatedly responded forcefully to these elements. The conspiracy of the INDIA block to set India on fire will never succeed,” said Mr. Goyal.
BJP MP Sambit Patra said in a video message that this was not the first time Mr Gandhi had made such a statement. “Today, the entire global situation remains difficult due to the ongoing war (in West Asia). While many other countries are facing serious challenges, Bharat is strong and continues to progress under the leadership of Mr. Modi,” he said.
“However, his statement clearly showed the manner in which Rahul Gandhi is trying to create unrest and create anarchy in an attempt to topple the government. These remarks were not made casually. Somewhere they revealed the planning of his patrons like (George) Soros and certain foreign entities,” Mr. Patra alleged, trying to link the Congress chief’s alleged foreign remarks with his own foreign remarks.
“But Indian people are wise…you saw what happened in West Bengal and Assam (election results). India works through its constitution and democracy wins here in the end,” Mr Patra said.
In his post on X, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Whenever the country has strengthened its position on the global stage, the Indian economy has reached new heights and the world has recognized India’s leadership, anti-Indian international forces have launched smear campaigns against the country and the Congress has always given them support.
“I want to say to every self-respecting citizen of the country: be vigilant in your homes against the hidden traitors within,” he added.
