The cameras have facial recognition systems (FRS), automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and other analytical functions. They are monitored from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) control room in Amaravati through the CCTNS AP 360 application and are linked to all district control centers and police stations.
“In a recent missing person case registered at Kurnool Taluka police station, the missing person was successfully located in Madanapalle. Similarly, in another case registered at Peddakaduburu police station, the victim was located in Tirupati,” the SP said, adding that the missing persons were traced and handed over to their families.
FRS cameras scan faces and identify people by comparing them to photographs stored in the police database.
The control room of the Kurnool police headquarters also receives instant alerts from the cameras on the suspicious movement of property offenders, absconders in criminal cases and persons with a criminal record.
Cameras have been installed at key locations such as bus stands, railway stations, major government offices, hospitals, temples, mosques, stadiums, markets, shopping complexes and transport hubs.
The SP asked the public to immediately file a complaint at the nearest police station in the event of the disappearance of a family member or vehicle. According to him, every complaint would be handled as a priority and dealt with immediately.
