Anna Hazare health update: Activist ‘better and stable’ amid hospitalization for kidney infection | Today’s news
Social activist Anna Hazare, 89, was hospitalized at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai after medical tests showed a kidney infection, according to an associate of hers on Tuesday.
Doctor Gautam Bhansali said PTI Hazare’s condition is “better and stable”.
The activist was taken to a Mumbai hospital late on Monday from a health facility in his native village of Ralegan Siddhi in Ahilyanagar district where he was initially receiving treatment, said his adviser Datta Awari.
“According to Anna’s blood reports, he had kidney inflammation, but he is doing well now,” Awari mentioned.
The anti-corruption fighter was admitted to a hospital in Ahilyanagar last week and has since recovered, his associate said.

Doctors at Bombay Hospital were conducting a detailed assessment of Hazara’s health.

Former Union minister Prabhu expressed concern over Hazare’s health.
“Concerned to learn of the deteriorating health of Shri Anna Hazare ji, who has been admitted to ICU at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai. Anna ji has dedicated decades of her life to social reform, transparency and anti-corruption. His contribution to public life and his commitment to a cleaner and more responsible society have been significant,” Prabhu wrote on X.
He added: “I pray for his speedy recovery and good health. My thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time.”

Hazare’s anti-corruption movement in 2011
Over the years, the former army personnel-turned-social activist has led several campaigns for rural development, greater transparency in governance and anti-corruption efforts.
His anti-corruption movement in 2011 became one of the largest public mobilizations in Delhi. Hazare’s 13-day hunger strike attracted large numbers of people who demanded stronger legislation to establish the Lokpal.

Hazare was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour.
What did Hazare say on CJP’s protest?
Referring to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest, Hazare said public grievances should be addressed through peaceful protests and democratic dialogue.
“Any problem is solved through dialogue. Dialogue leads to a solution. Creating tension and going the wrong way will not solve anything. Dialogue is the most important thing. I have led 22 hunger strikes, but I have never resorted to violence. Things should be solved through dialogue. For the welfare of the society, let it be right, action should be taken,” he mentions after the end of the agitation.
“I have done 22 fasts, I have never used violence and 10 laws have been enacted because of this. This is crucial; creating violence is not right. Whoever it is, we should never indulge in violence,” Hazare further said.
Hazare emphasized that governments should heed the concerns of citizens and use democratic mechanisms to address issues affecting the public. He said that people should be willing to raise their voices in favor of the larger public interest, while holding the view that disputes and grievances should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to democratic means to solve public problems.
