Andhra Pradesh police open fire and arrest a man who allegedly stabbed a constable in Krishna district

Andhra Pradesh police reportedly opened fire in the early hours of Tuesday (1 September 2026) on a man who allegedly attacked a constable with a knife while trying to escape near Komatikunta Lakulu village in Krishna district. Injured constable Srinivas is being treated at a hospital and his condition is stable, police said.

On Monday, accused Avinad allegedly assaulted a police officer near Nallajarla village in East Godavari district and fled.

On receiving information that he was moving near Komatikunta Lakulu, a police team led by Kankipadu Circle Inspector B. Ravi Kumar cordoned off the area.

The defendant allegedly attacked the police officers with a knife and injured the officer. The CI opened fire and took him into custody.

Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu along with Gannavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Dharmendra visited the spot and investigated the incident on Tuesday.
