Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed India’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 7.8 percent in the first quarter of FY27, calling it a reflection of the countrymen’s “collective strength”. He also called out the opposition, accusing them of “spreading despair” in the country.

In a video message released on X, Prime Minister Modi congratulated people for their hard work and said India’s economic growth came amid global challenges, including wars, crises and disrupted supply chains.

He said: “Growth of 7.8% – the nation is filled with joy. I congratulate the people of this country for their determination and hardworking spirit; it reflects our collective strength. The world is mired in conflict; news of war is coming from all directions and crises are plaguing the globe. Supply chains are severely disrupted. India’s stability is being disrupted everywhere. Since the time of COVID 2, India is still an escapee. move fast.”

Attacking the opposition, PM Modi added: “Meanwhile, there are those in the country who are wallowing in the abyss of pessimism, reflecting untruths and spreading despair. The nation has risen above it and overcome these hurdles to achieve a growth rate of 7.8%. We need to maintain this momentum. We need to keep moving forward and that’s why Bharatmanirb becomes necessary.”

Modi urges to focus on Swadeshi, self-reliance

Urging people to prioritize domestic products and consumption, PM Modi said, “Swadeshi mantra, Vocal for Local: foreign trips if you are sightseeing should not be done. If you are having weddings abroad then it should not be done. One should live by the mantra ‘St in India’. And if it is not necessary then one should not buy gold either.”

He added that a greater focus on ‘Swadeshi’ and self-reliance would help ensure that India becomes a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by the time it celebrates 100 years of independence. He said today’s hard work will help fulfill the aspirations of the young generation, adding that the government’s policy is sound and its intentions are clear. He said the collective strength of 1.4 billion Indians is driving the country to greater heights and urged people to celebrate, make a firm decision and work together to make that decision a reality.
