Kishan Reddy unveils over ₹100 crore railway and tourism projects in Gadwal, Telangana

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy on Monday announced that a ₹45 crore railway over-bridge (ROB) will be constructed near Jogulamba railway station to ease traffic congestion and improve access for thousands of pilgrims visiting the famous Jogulamba temple.

After inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation works at Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba Halt, Gadwal, Mahbubnagar and Jadcherla railway stations, which are underway at a total cost of ₹125.39 crore, Mr. Reddy said that railway infrastructure projects worth ₹108 crore, including the cost of the new Gad awal6 region, are currently under implementation. crore.

He said that currently 34 trains pass through the station and expressed confidence that after the completion of the development work, additional train stops, including the Vande Bharat train stop, could be provided. As part of the station modernization programme, the platform is being modernized with airport-like equipment, including lifts and escalators.

The redevelopment of Gadwal railway station is expected to be completed by April 2027. Noting that the station is nearing its centenary, Mr. Reddy said that once the work is completed, the milestone will be celebrated on a grand scale under the auspices of the Central Government.

Highlighting the development of railways in Telangana, he said that since 2014, 888 km of new railway lines have been laid. About 520 road bridges and flyovers have been constructed and another 118 ROBs have been sanctioned at a cost of ₹4,883 crore. He added that 58 feet flyovers and cargo terminals are currently under construction across the state.

Mr. Reddy said that railway electrification in Telangana was almost complete, except for the Siddipet line, and high-speed Wi-Fi services were now available at 174 railway stations. Earlier, the minister inaugurated a sound and light show at the historic Jogulamba temple complex in Alampur. Developed at a cost of ₹ 4.6 crore, the project aims to showcase the history of Alampur, the significance of Goddess Jogulamba and the architectural splendor of the Nava Brahma temples using modern technology.

The Center was also developing the Bala Brahmeswara Swamy temple and Chalukyan heritage sites at Alampur at a cost of ₹47 crore. The project includes facilities like ‘annadana satram’, ‘kalyana mandapam’, food court, hostels, multimedia room, open air amphitheater, boating facilities, parking lot, CCTV surveillance, solar lighting and sewage treatment plant.

Mr Reddy said the Center has sanctioned ₹614.32 crore for 15 major tourism projects in Telangana under schemes like PRASHAD (Pilgrim Rejuvenation, Spiritual and Heritage Augmentation) and ‘Swadesh Darshan’. He also suggested the development of an integrated tourism circuit connecting Alampur with the Jurala project, Beechupally Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Gadwal Fort and the Krishna-Tungabhadra river belt.
