Cattle attack by tigers has raised alarm in Eluru district
A tiger attacked cattle near the Devaragondi tribal settlement in the early hours of Sunday, prompting the forest department to sound an alert in nearby villages in Eluru district.
Forest teams tracking the animal identified its movement near Udatapalli village in the Papikonda forests and in tribal habitations around the Polavaram project area.
According to villagers, a tiger attacked cattle near Devaragondi village.
Forest officials have advised villagers not to venture into the forests to collect firewood or go to agricultural fields after dark. They also asked residents to stay indoors at night, not to send children outside and to ensure adequate lighting in livestock sheds.
“We are monitoring the tiger’s movements and trying to trap the animal safely,” a forest official said on Sunday.
