Two youths held for chain snatching in Vellore

Two youths were arrested by the Bagayam police in Vellore on Saturday for stealing 10 gold chain sovereigns from an insurance company employee recently.

Police said the arrested persons were identified as Kenerson (21) and his accomplice K. Diwakar (21). They were residents of Katpadi in Vellore city.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim Kameela Manjul (54) worked in a private insurance firm. . On August 25, she was returning to her house near the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Bagayam when a duo on a two-wheeler allegedly snatched her gold chain and fled the scene.

Police said a case has been registered by the Bagayam police. Special teams analyzed CCTV footage along the route. The team nabbed the duo from their hideout in Katpadi. The police also recovered a gold chain from the couple. They were later lodged in the Vellore Central Jail. A probe is underway.
