UGC-NET June 2026: Results for 84 subjects; English, Commerce and Sociology Revision Dates Released — Details | Today’s news
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will re-conduct the UGC-NET June 2026 exam for three subjects – English, Commerce and Sociology – from September 9 to 10, according to an official notification.
As per the announced schedule, English Papers will be held on September 9 in 1st Shift (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM), Commerce on September 9 in 2nd Shift (3:00 PM to 6:00 PM) and Sociology on September 10 in 1st Shift (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM).
Candidates will not have to pay any additional fee for these make-up exams.

Clarifying the evaluation process for these candidates, NTA has issued an important note that candidates appearing for the re-examination may encounter the message “Invalid Application Number/Password” if they try to access the score card at this stage.
The agency confirmed that the results and scorecards for the three subjects will be released only after the re-examination.
NTA released the UGC-NET answer key on August 16, almost two months after the exam, and issued a special notification regarding Sociology, Commerce and English papers.
Later on the same day, it announced that the three examinations would be carried out again in September, citing errors.
UGC-NET June 2026 Results
Meanwhile, the NTA on Friday declared the UGC-NET June 2026 results for 84 subjects. Candidates can access their results and scorecards on the official website of UGC-NET where candidates can log in and view, download and print their scores.
“Of the 6.07 lakh candidates who appeared for the examination in 84 subjects, over 97,000 qualified for PhD admissions and over 4,000 for JRF,” said a senior NTA official.
Why is the review carried out?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has ordered re-exams for candidates who appeared in English, Commerce and Sociology magazines this June after an expert panel found factual, typographical, translation and linguistic errors in the questions.
Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had conducted the UGC-NET June 2026 examination from June 22 to 30 for 87 subjects to award junior research fellowships, assess the eligibility of assistant professors and initiate admissions to Ph.D.

However, after many complaints regarding errors in these documents, the testing agency set up a committee to investigate the matter.
According to the NTA, the panel found that the question papers contained numerous factual, typographical and translation errors, including misspellings of prominent scholars’ names, garbled book titles, vocabulary gaps, grammatical errors and errors in gender and number matching, along with repetition of a significant number of questions previously set.

Based on the committee’s recommendation, the NTA ordered re-examination in these three subjects which included English, Commerce and Sociology.
NET is administered by NTA to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the role of Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges.
