Educate yourself: Anaya Bangar criticizes Marizanne Kapp for playing in the WBBL

Anaya Bangar slammed Marizanne Kapp’s criticism of her possibly playing in the Women’s Big Bash League. Cricket Australia allowed Anaya, the daughter of former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, to compete in the women’s community and Premier Cricket in Australia sparked a new debate.

The development comes shortly after Anaya spoke of getting permission from Cricket Australia and outlined his ambitions to resume his competitive career, with a possible pathway to elite cricket opening up from March 2027.

South African star Kapp criticized the decisionarguing that transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women’s cricket.

“Absolutely ridiculous, this should not be allowed,” Kapp wrote on her Instagram.

Anaya has now responded by saying that people protesting her inclusion should educate themselves on the topic. She also said she provided information that she had no unfair advantage and was in line with the guidelines set by Cricket Australia.

“I think people who want to raise their voice against this should really educate themselves on the subject and I have already provided the necessary information in terms of not having any unfair advantage and also in line with the guidelines set by Cricket Australia.

“If someone has such a personal opinion, I hope they educate themselves,” she shrugged.

Anaya said the next step for her is to go to Australia, play club cricket and prove with her performances that she has a chance to be selected for the Women’s Big Bash League.

“Basically now the next role is to go out there and play club cricket and prove with my performances and if I do well then hopefully I’ll have a chance to be selected for the Women’s Big Bash League. So it’s just steps from there but the main part of me having a place to play is cleared,” Anaya said.

Anaya’s path to the WBBL game is not a straightforward one. Cricket Australia has set out specific eligibility criteria for Anaya if she were to bid for a WBBL spot from 2027. She will be required to provide a blood test to confirm her serum testosterone level remains below 10 nmol/l, while meeting other conditions outlined in the governing body’s policy.
