Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates: After six boxing semi-finalists, India wins medals in athletics arena – The Tech Word News

Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates: India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign gained further momentum on Day 6 as Gulveer Singh made history, Harjinder Kaur added another silver in weightlifting and the country’s boxers guaranteed at least three more medals with dominant performances in Glasgow.

The biggest talk of the day was Gulveer Singh, who became the first Indian to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games in the men’s 10,000m after putting in a brilliant silver medal performance. Harjinder Kaur continued India’s weightlifting success as she finished second in the women’s 69kg category, bettering the bronze medal she won at the Birmingham Games four years ago.

The Indian boxing team continued their great run with Jadumani Singh, Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas all reaching the semi-finals to secure at least bronze medals for the nation. While several athletes bowed out in boxing, swimming and athletics, there were encouraging performances in para swimming and bowls as India’s medal hunt continued in several disciplines.

At the end of Day 6, India finished ninth in the medal standings with 12 medals, two gold, seven silver and three bronze – and will now turn their attention to the next event-packed schedule on Day 7.

Several Indian athletes will compete for medals on Wednesday, including Sanjana in the women’s 77kg weightlifting final, long jumpers Sreeshankar Murali and Lokesh Satyanathan, shot putter Manpreet Kaur and steeplechase runner Parul Choudhary. Six Indians, including Sachin Siwach, Sakshi Choudhary, Ankush Yadav and Jaismine Lamboria, will once again be at work in the boxing ring to secure a semi-final spot. India will also be represented in swimming, para athletics, para swimming and bowls, making Day 7 another crucial opportunity to climb the Commonwealth Games medal table.
