The Shiromanians Akali Dal (SAD), who faced a harsh call to remain politically relevant in state policy, is ready on Saturday (April 12, 2025) to choose his new president and office bearer. Meanwhile, the rebel parties continue to claim that by the fact that the party has not fully followed the instructions of Akal Takht, it challenged the authority of the Supreme Sikh temporal chair.
Sad’s work committee, at the beginning of this week, decided to organize a general delegate meeting to election of a new president for the party on April 12. It was also decided to organize a political conference on the occasion of “Baisakhi” in Talwandi Sabo in the district of Bathinda 13.
Former MP and leader Rebel Sad Prem Singh Chandumajra told the Hindes that the party leadership continued with the parallel committee to restructure the organization instead of Akal Takht. “They attacked and undermined the authority of Akal Takht. They were exposed,” he said.
The insurgents say that the Akal Varcial Takht of December 2, 2024, who granted religious punishments to the former president of the party Sukhbir Singh Badal and several other leaders Akali gave for “mistakes” committed by a sad government from 2007 to 2017, was not accepted in a letter and spirit.
The leading of the rebels, the head of the sad leader Daljit Singh Cheem, claimed on Thursday that desperate attempts were made to prevent the party to return to political field.
Mr. Cheema said earlier that the rebel group was in line with the party of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and even aside AAM AADMI (AAP) damaged the orchard. “Now they have even associated with Congress. Congress leader urged the election commission to suspend the organizational elections of the SAD. The insurgents addressed him to file a complaint with the election commission in the conspiracy.
Sad has always decided that a group of insurgents tried to connect the party’s membership with religion and get it, said Mr. Cheema, adding that “the link between the insurgents and the leader of the congress did it”.
“Desperate politically motivated attempts to sabotage the elections of the SAD organization would not be successful. The delegate meeting will choose the new President of the Party 12, April,” he said.
