Police confiscated almost one ton of suspected fakes
Malkajgiri Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (M-FAST) of Uppal Zone in coordination with Medipally Police on Wednesday seized 980 kg of suspected adulterated paneer and two sports utility vehicles in a raid on Narapally Main Road near Nandanavanam Park under Medipally Police Station limits.
The team intercepted an SUV that was allegedly carrying paneer made under unsanitary conditions from unlicensed units in Pembarthi and Pochanapet villages of Jangaon district.
According to the police, the paneer was unbranded, unwrapped and did not bear the date of manufacture or expiry. It was allegedly supplied to buyers illegally.
Two persons, identified as Chamakuri Ram Reddy and Jula Srinivas, both involved in the paneer business, have been named in connection with the case.
Police seized 980 kg of paneer along with two SUVs. The case and the seized property have been handed over to the Medipally police for further investigation.
