The Mediation Center and the Mercury Tamil Nadu (TNMCC) celebrated its 20th Day of the Foundation, called Mediation Day, on the Madras High Court campus on Wednesday with the chairman of SS Sundar distributed brochures that emphasize the benefits of intermediation disputes. The TNMCC members Anita Sumanth, GK ILANTHIRAYAN and D. Bharatha Chakravarthy also attended the celebration. The director of the K. Balasubramanian Center said TNMCC was the first court annexed mediation center to establish in the country on April 9, 2005.
Since then, mediation centers have been established in all court complexes in 38 districts and 146 talluks and every year the Foundation Day was celebrated as a mediation day throughout the state. The center provides training to mediators and facilitates dispute resolution.
The director, who emphasized the benefits of mechanisms of alternative dispute resolution, said that Mediation provides the courts to iron his differences through the table and provides mutually advantageous situation for competitive parties that may not spend their valuable time and energy in long -term court proceedings. He pointed out that the courts could order the return of court fees if the disputes were resolved by means of mediation.
