Salman Khan gets relief as Delhi HC orders removal of ‘Kala Hiran’ teaser; notes: “Reputation lost is lost” | Today’s news
The Delhi High Court on Monday ordered the removal of a trailer and numerous online links associated with the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, finding that its promotional content apparently linked actor Salman Khan to the 1998 poaching case and could potentially damage his reputation.
While hearing Salman Khan’s plea for an interim injunction to curb the film’s release, promotion and publicity, Justice Jyoti Singh also hinted that the film’s producer Amit Jani’s interviews will be directed to be removed from online platforms, according to ANI.
The High Court said it would issue a detailed order giving reasons for its decision.
During the hearing, the court verbally stated, “This has to stop.”
The court emphasized the importance of protecting an individual’s reputation, noting, “Reputation lost is lost.”
The judge also noted that the film’s promotional content seemed to link Salman Khan with the Lawrence Bishnoi controversy.
Khan’s legal representative argued that although the actor’s name was not specifically mentioned, the trailer, posters and other promotional material clearly pointed to him.
According to the lawsuit, the promotional material features a Salman Khan lookalike wearing his signature blue armband, making it easier for viewers to identify the actor.
Khan argued that the film is based on the 1998 blackbuck poaching case and presents a misleading portrayal of the events surrounding it, causing significant damage to his reputation. He further claimed that the makers are trying to commercially exploit his identity and public image without obtaining his consent.

The application also claims that producer Amit Jani, through interviews, social media posts and other public statements, directly linked the film to the Blackbuck case and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in an attempt to attract publicity.
The legal dispute centers on “Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy,” which Khan claims violates his rights to personality and publicity.
The petition claims that although Salman Khan is not mentioned by name, the film’s posters, trailer and other promotional content contain visual and contextual elements that clearly refer to him.

They also claim that one of the scenes shows a character resembling the actor with a firearm, despite his acquittal in the Arms Act case, creating a false and misleading impression.
The lawsuit further states that parts of the film are based on issues still pending in higher courts, and claims that the release of such material could prejudice ongoing proceedings and undermine Khan’s right to a fair trial.

Earlier this year on May 29, producer Jani unveiled the poster of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The film was shot across Sambhal, Moradabad and several other locations in Uttar Pradesh.
What Jani said
Jani, who earlier produced Udaipur Files (2025), posted an online legal notice issued by Salman Khan’s legal team.
In an interview with Aaj Take, he claimed, “Salman started threatening people associated with the film Kala Hiran by sending them notices. In the interview, Jani mentioned that the film is based on the struggle of the Bishnoi community, claiming that its members could not even afford legal representation while Khan’s legal team arrived in helicopters.”
“This film neither glorifies nor demeans the image of Salman Khan and it is not Salman’s biopic either,” he added.
