Bandi challenges Revanth to support Gen Z’s fight with cabinet beds

State Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday hit out at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his proposal to lower the minimum age for standing in the Assembly and House of Assembly elections from 25 to 21 and urged him to first induct Gen Z leaders into the state cabinet.

Addressing the media at Shamshabad Airport, Mr. Sanjay said that if the Chief Minister is serious about empowering the young generation, he should allot ministerial berths to leaders in the 21-30 age group instead of merely pushing constitutional amendments.

The BJP leader also demanded that the state government should ask the sitting Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) to resign and nominate Gen Z leaders in their place if it really wants to ensure greater political representation for the youth.

Claiming that Home, Education and Municipal Administration have been filled so far, Mr. Sanjay Kumar urged the Chief Minister to entrust these departments to young leaders.

At the congress, he was quick to question whether senior leaders were being projected as representatives of Gen Z. He argued that Congress had a history of appointing older leaders to posts meant for the youth.
