Hyderabad man drowns while fishing in Baswapur dam

A 39-year-old man from Hyderabad drowned while fishing in the Baswapuram dam in Bhongir on Sunday afternoon after his leg reportedly got tangled under the water.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Naeem Shasha Junaid, a driver and a resident of Banjara Hills.

According to an officer from the Bhongir Rural Police, Dial 100 received information about the incident around 12 noon. A police patrol rushed to the reservoir and started a search operation, during which the man’s body was pulled out of the water.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Junaid had gone to the tank with friends for fishing. Police said he and two others entered the water when his foot became entangled in an object below the surface. Unable to free himself, he lost his balance and drowned.

The body was taken to the Government General Hospital, Bhongir, for post-mortem. The police informed the family members and began to investigate the incident further.
