Leaders of Congress constituency units and members of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in Kalaburagi on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanding responsibility from the Center for student issues.

Protesters raised slogans against the BJP-led Union government and claimed that the Home Minister should take responsibility for police action against students during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. They also demanded compensation for the families of students who died after the NEET controversy and sought a thorough probe into the question paper leak allegations.

Center failure

Addressing the rally, Congress leaders criticized the Center for its handling of student-related issues and accused the government of failing to protect the interests of the youth. They demanded a transparent probe into the alleged NEET paper leak and called for strict action against those responsible for the incident.

The protesters argued that the use of force against students exercising their democratic right to protest was unacceptable and reflected a failure to uphold democratic values. They said students should be allowed to express their concerns without intimidation and demanded justice for families affected by the NEET dispute.

They reiterated their demand for Mr. Shah’s resignation, saying the Union government must accept responsibility and ensure accountability. They warned that the agitations would continue until their demands, including compensation for the affected families and an impartial investigation into the alleged paper leak, were resolved.

MLAs BR Patil, Kaneez Fatima and Allamprabhu Patil, MLCs Jagdev Guttedar and Thippannappa Kamaknoor and Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority Chairman Mazhar Alam Khan were present at the protest.
