Students’ unions celebrated following the news of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. A rally at the Lenin Center in Vijayawada. They hailed the resignation as a victory for the student movement and celebrated what they described as the success of the student agitation at Jantar Mantar. Leaders and activists raised slogans and reaffirmed their commitment to continue the struggle until their broader demands for reforms in the education sector are met.

Students Federation of India (SFI) President P. Rammohan and State Secretary K. Prasanna Kumar saluted every student, youth and democratic forces who fought tirelessly till the Union Education Minister was forced to resign. “This is a historic victory achieved through the unity and determination of the students. The movement has once again shown that no government or ruler is invincible before the collective strength of the organized student community,” they said.

They said the student movement that has been going on for the past two months has shaken the arrogance of the Narendra Modi government. “We especially appreciate the leadership of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and all progressive student organizations for playing a key role in transforming student anger into a peaceful but strong democratic movement across the country,” they said.

SFÚ leaders have demanded the immediate abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which they claim is responsible for a series of failures that have reportedly claimed the lives of more than 20 students. They further demanded full justice for the students and their families who suffered due to investigative irregularities and administrative failures.

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State Secretary Ramanna said the resistance will continue until every student in the country is guaranteed equal, fair and inclusive access to education.

“The student movement has shattered the notion that Gen Z is a passive generation engrossed in mobile phones and indifferent to the world around them. Their constant protests have taken politicians by surprise and demonstrated that the country’s youth are politically aware, organized and ready to hold those in power to account,” said Nitta Swarnalatha, a lawyer from the Andhra Pradesh High Court who attended the Supreme Court’s victory celebrations.

“The CJP movement has sent a strong message that governments can no longer act with impunity or ignore public concerns as an awakened generation is ready to challenge, challenge and demand accountability for every action,” said Meghana Reddy, a student. She said she had come to the protest site to demand the resignation of the Union Education Minister, but was pleased to find that the demonstration had turned into a victory celebration after the resignation of the minister. She described it as a significant moment for the student movement and argued that the resignation reflected the strength of persistent and united student protests.
