Officials told GMR to complete pending works at Bhogapuram airport before Modi’s visit

Special Chief Secretary MT Krishna Babu and other senior officials directed GMR Group representatives to complete all ongoing works as soon as possible before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1, 2026. He along with Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan inspected the airport premises, 22.02.2026 (pending works) at the airport.

According to sources, the state government is taking steps on war footing to complete the pending works on the approach road and others. With only a week left for the Prime Minister’s visit, the government wants to have everything in order within a few days.

With more than one million people likely to attend the public meeting, works at the main site have the highest priority on the airport premises. The government will arrange around 2000 buses for people to attend the inauguration event. Up to 6,000 private vehicles are expected on the opening day.

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police AR Damodar and other senior officials monitored the security arrangements for the visit. The police department coordinated with the security agencies of the Union government to ensure a foolproof security arrangement for the Prime Minister and other VIPs on the day.
