Sonam Wangchuk ‘stable and alert’ – Medanta says vitals are within ‘accepted parameters’ | Today’s news
Educator-activist Sonam Wangchuk, who broke his 26-day fast last night, is “stable and alert”, Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, said on Friday (July 24).
This morning, Wangchuk said he decided to call off the fast only after receiving assurances from the government and cross-party MPs about his key demands. He said he has extended his fast by two days as talks with the Center are on.

“Mr. Sonam Wangchuk is being treated by a multidisciplinary team of doctors at Medanta Hospital Gurugram. He broke his fast and is currently receiving liquid diet as per requirements,” the hospital said in a press release.
Medanta said Wangchuk remains stable and alert, with vital signs within acceptable parameters. “He remains under constant observation and his clinical parameters are monitored.”
