Adani denies plans to enter airline business, calls reports ‘baseless and factually incorrect’

Adani Enterprises denied media reports on Friday (July 24, 2026) that it was planning to launch an airline, according to a company statement. In the report, Adani noted that it was not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business, calling the reports “completely unfounded and factually incorrect”.

“We would like to categorically deny recent media reports and market speculation suggesting that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline. These reports are completely baseless and factually incorrect,” it said. It said, “Adani Enterprises is not evaluating any proposal to enter the aviation business.”

IndiGo and Air India have opposed the Adani Group’s reported interest in entering the airline business, raising concerns of a conflict of interest and potential distortion of competition, as the conglomerate is understood to have approached the government to remove cross-ownership restrictions that currently limit airline ownership of airports and vice versa.

Responding to a query on the issue, IndiGo chief executive Rahul Bhatia said on Wednesday (22 July 2026) in an analyst call to discuss the quarterly results that “there is no global precedent as it would typically create a massive conflict of interest and over a period of time it would be against the interests of consumers”.
