Around 100 people, mostly youths, gathered at the Queen’s Walkway in Kochi, Kerala at midnight on Tuesday in solidarity with the ongoing protests in Delhi against the NEET paper leak, even as the political storm sparked by the protests in the state capital continues.

The protesters, many wearing black, joined the candlelight vigil following a call by an Instagram handle called Azadi Kerala.

The youth shouted slogans and held placards with strongly worded anti-government messages. “You’re messing with the wrong generation,” read the banner. However, political representatives were absent from the protest.

The solidarity meeting was organized after obtaining the necessary police permission.

Similar meetings are planned

Similar meetings are being planned by different groups in different parts of Kerala. A meeting titled ‘In solidarity with the youth of the nation’ is scheduled at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) at 3.30 pm. Another meeting has been scheduled at High Court Junction, Kochi, on Thursday at 5 pm by the social media collective.

Sources from the group said protests would also be organized in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode on Thursday. “About 3,000 people have already expressed their willingness to attend the meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. We expect a large turnout in Kochi and Kozhikode,” they said.

The Socialists of India @100 State Committee is also organizing a satyagraha at Gandhi Square in Kacheripady, Kochi on Wednesday.

The Ernakulam District Congress Committee took out a protest march on MG Road on Tuesday evening following police action against party leaders, including Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, in New Delhi during the agitation.

On Monday, hundreds of people gathered at Kacheripady junction to support activist Sonam Wangchuk and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The rally coincided with the CJP’s Chalo Sansad Parliament march at Jantar Mantar in the state capital.
