Preity Zinta lends support to CJP protesters, urges govt to open talks with Sonam Wangchuk: ‘Please end your fast’ | Today’s news
Bollywood actress Preity Zinta on Tuesday urged the government to initiate a “meaningful dialogue” with Sonam Wangchuk and students protesting at Jantar Mantar to prevent further deterioration of the activist’s health.
Wangchuk has been on an indefinite fast since June 28 over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The Delhi Police reportedly took Wangchuk away from the protest site at Jantar Mantar and forcibly shifted him to Safdarjung Hospital on the day of his hunger strike.
In an interview with X, Zinta wrote, “I hope our government will initiate a meaningful dialogue with Sonam Wangchuk and the student bodies so that his health does not deteriorate further!”
She also urged Wangchuk to end his fast, saying his health is as important as his fight. “Please end your fast Sonam. Your health is as important as this fight.”
“You and the students are fighting for the future of India and for our youth. My hearty and unwavering support to every student and Sonam in this fight to uplift and improve our education system,” Zinta wrote. “More power to you all. Jai Hind”
Govt wasted time: Dipke on talks with Nadda
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday questioned the government’s proposal to open talks with his organisation, saying it engaged in dialogue with the CJP while carrying out police crackdown on protesters.
“The government wasted our time. They invited our delegation. They confiscated their mobiles. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were in a way under house arrest at JP Naddy’s residence,” Dipke said while addressing his supporters at Jantar Mantar, where the protest against the NEET paper leak issue entered its 32nd day.
“The whole plan was to disperse the team so that when there is chaos, no one is there. That’s why they let them sit for five hours and waste our time. On the one hand, you call for talks and on the other hand, you unleash batons,” he claimed.
The center did not respond to the allegations.
