‘If they create a ruckus…’: Kangana Ranaut tells CJP to stop government’s hand-wringing and fight elections | Today’s news
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and actor Kangana Ranaut on Monday slammed the opposition’s protests during the monsoon session of Parliament, saying the elected government has the right to take decisions and cannot be “made” to accept demands, Hindustan Times reported.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Ranaut said the purpose of the monsoon session was to discuss national issues in detail and hold the government accountable through debate, not by disrupting proceedings.
“Our parliament meeting is about being able to discuss all matters in detail and the government will be responsible for everything. That is its purpose and we want the meeting to take place in such a way that MPs can raise their questions. But if they cause a ruckus and cause chaos, that is not right,” she said, according to the ČSSD. HT reportwith reference to ANI.
Responding to demands from opposition parties and student groups for the removal of ministers and officials over the NEET-UG controversy, Ranaut said such decisions depend on the elected government and should not be dictated by pressure tactics.
“First secure a public mandate”
According to HTRanaut said those who want to influence the functioning of the government should first secure a mandate from the people.
“It is the right of a government elected by the people to decide how to run the government. If you feel that strongly, you should stand for election yourself,” she said.
Her remarks came after members of the The Congress-led opposition staged protests in Parliament demanding discussions on the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case.
Student protesters linked to the online movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demonstrated at Jantar Mantar before marching to Parliament demanding resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over NEET-UG controversy, HT reported.
CJP’s stance and disruption of Parliament
According to HTCJP founder Abhijeet Dipke reiterated that the organization was not interested in contesting the election despite Ranaut’s remarks. Questioning why the group should enter electoral politics, Dipke said its aim was to hold governments accountable rather than participate in elections.
Inside Parliament, the Lok Sabha proceedings began with the obituary messages of Speaker Om Birla. Soon after, the opposition MPs raised slogans demanding a discussion on the alleged leak of NEET examination papers and the alleged issue of misappropriation of donations to the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Birla repeatedly appealed to the members to enable the functioning of the House and urged them to cooperate in doing business. However, the sloganeering continued and forced him to adjourn the Lok Sabha till 12 noon, HT reported.
Ahead of the monsoon session, Congress leaders had indicated that they would push for debates on the NEET-UG 2026 controversy and the alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case during the proceedings.
