CJP to unveil next strategy after Pradhan’s resignation, says Abhijeet Dipke – ‘Will also address Punjab paper leak’ | Today’s news
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said on Sunday that the organization will soon present its next course of action following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while hinting that the movement will continue with its remaining demands.
“We will announce our future strategy soon. It just ended yesterday; please give us some time,” Dipke told reporters.
Dipke also said that the CJP will look into the alleged leak of investigative documents in Punjab, adding that the organization is working on a response. “We will deal with that as well. We are currently planning it,” he said.
On the government’s involvement with the protestors, Dipke said that discussions were ongoing on the cases registered against the students who participated in the agitation.
“The cases that have been filed are being heard. No cases should be filed against any student,” he said.
CJP’s 36-day agitation
The CJP on Saturday called off its 36-day agitation after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the government accepted its other demands, a major victory for the unprecedented youth-led movement that had galvanized thousands over exam irregularities and the NEET paper leak.
Pradhan announced his resignation in a statement, saying he was deeply “saddened” by the developments of the past 10 days and that the matter was “not a matter of personal prestige”.
Noting that he did not want “anti-national forces” to take advantage of the situation, Pradhan said he wanted to ensure that “the unity of the nation remains intact”, “the future of not even a single student should be entangled in legal complications” and that students devote their time to studies and building their careers.
“With all these considerations in mind, I have sent my resignation to the Prime Minister,” he said.
Soon after Pradhan’s announcement, the CJP said it was withdrawing its agitation after the government agreed to all the remaining demands, including compensation to the families of students who allegedly committed suicide after the NEET paper was leaked and withdrawal of the FIR against the protesters.
The announcement came after the third round of talks between the two parties at the Constitution Club in New Delhi here, where Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met CJPs Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
Later, the government appointed Union Minister Prahlad Joshi as the Education Minister. In addition to his role as consumer affairs minister, Joshi has been given the additional charge of the education ministry.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a “high-powered” task force headed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani to devise arrangements for leak-proof and technically sound exams.
