Yashoda Hospital, Somajiguda, secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by organizing what the hospital claims is the world’s largest conference on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). A total of 578 participants participated in the program simultaneously, in person and online, setting a new world record.

The awareness initiative was organized to improve public understanding of IBD, encourage early recognition of symptoms, and encourage early medical consultation. The record was officially verified by Guinness World Records judge Rishi Nath, who presented the award to Dr. Kiran Peddi, senior gastroenterologist and director of the Center for IBD, and Dr. S. Prashanth Reddy, Head of Department, Yashoda Hospital, Somajiguda.

Dr. Kiran Peddi said early diagnosis, appropriate treatment and regular follow-up are essential to manage the chronic condition and said the awareness initiative has equipped patients, caregivers and the public with the knowledge to identify symptoms early and seek professional medical attention. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospital, said this achievement demonstrated the institution’s commitment not only to clinical excellence but also to public health awareness.

Congratulating the hospital, Guinness World Records adjudicator Rishi Nath said the program went beyond setting a world record by educating hundreds of people about inflammatory bowel disease and raising public awareness of the disease.
