Experts call for a sustainable lifestyle in the climate dialogue

Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the state government, especially the irrigation department, is ready to mitigate the impact of El Nino. He took part in a panel discussion on climate change titled “Will future generations forgive us?” organized by Symposium, a non-profit platform, on Friday.

Inaugurating the discussion, Girish Mallpani, founder and chairman of the Symposium, urged the audience to adopt a conscious lifestyle for a sustainable world.

Vibha Dhawan, CEO of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Asif Qureshi, Head of Climate Change at IIIT Hyderabad; Goutham Reddy, Chairman, CII; and noted that environmentalist Ranjan Panda participated in the discussion.

The panel also included young climate advocates Avyana Mehta and Ariana Agarwal, winners of the Global Earth Prize 2026.

In addition to the panel discussion, the Symposium recognized exceptional local leadership and sustained contributions to environmental stewardship. Artist and activist Manveer Singh and environmental activist Dusharla Sathyanarayana were felicitated for their commendable work in this field. Their work was exhibited on site, which drew appreciation from the participants. The meeting was a mixture of art, information and meaningful conversations.

The symposium also presented a check for ₹ 1 lakh to Telangana’s “Forestman”, Dusharla Sathyanarayan, in recognition of his contributions.
