A complete makeover of roads in Mysuru is underway a week before the start of Dasara, the MCC minister said

Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday (July 15) directed the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to complete road improvement work in the city at least a week before the start of Dasara this year.
Dr. Presiding over a meeting of Mysuru district level officers at the zilla panchayat premises here, Yathindra directed the officials to also ensure that quality is maintained in the execution of works.
It may be mentioned here that the road work has been extended in previous years and continued through Dasara.
During the meeting, he also directed the officials to complete the ongoing development works in the district within the stipulated date and ensure the quality of their execution.
He said the public should be informed about the white tiling work being done in various parts of Mysuru city.
He also directed them to take up the white tiling work only after the Dasara festivities. “There will be heavy vehicular traffic during Dasara. Take extra measures to avoid traffic jams,” he ordered.
Referring to the work being done by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) near Manipal Hospital Circle, the Minister said that the work was causing heavy traffic congestion in the area. He directed officials to suspend work when Dasara festivities begin, facilitate smooth movement of vehicles and resume work after Dasara.
He also directed NHAI officials to look into repeated accidents reported on Mysuru-T. Narasipur Road.
Lack of water
Dr. Noting that the state is facing drought, Yathindra said there should be no shortage of drinking water in the district. Officials should take all necessary precautions to ensure an adequate supply of drinking water.
“No village should face shortage of drinking water. Clean drinking water must be supplied and officials should work towards this goal. They should manage the drought situation effectively,” he ordered.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Yukesh Kumar, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Police Inspector Mallikarjun Baladandi and district officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
