Pakistani woman, son detained in Bagepalli for overstaying visa
The Bagepalli police arrested a Pakistani woman and her son for allegedly staying illegally in India using voter ID card and ration card after their visas expired.
According to the police, Farhanaz, a Pakistani national, and her son Mohammed Fardeen Khan lived in Dasaragere village, Bagepalli taluk. Criminal charges were filed against them for allegedly overstaying their visas and staying in the country without a valid permit.
Investigators said Farhanaz was married to Ayub Khan, a resident of Dasaragere village. The couple have two children and one of them, Mohammed Fardeen Khan, has also been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
Preliminary investigations show that both Farhanaz and her son are Pakistani nationals. Police are also probing allegations that they were in possession of Indian identity documents, including ration card, Aadhaar card, voter ID card and bank accounts despite not being Indian citizens. The authenticity of these documents is under investigation.
Police said Ayub Khan is currently employed as a bus driver in the Persian Gulf, while Farhanaz and their children lived in the village.
Officials said that although their visas had expired, they had not returned to Pakistan. Based on a complaint about their alleged illegal stay, the police started an investigation and subsequently arrested the mother and son.
