Malkajgiri police destroy narcotics worth ₹31.99 crore seized in 76 NDPS cases

Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police on Thursday destroyed narcotic and psychotropic substances with an estimated value of ₹ 31.99 crore that were seized in 76 cases registered under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The destruction was done at Roma Industries in Thokkapur village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district after completing all the legal formalities under the NDPS Act.

The contraband destroyed included 5,073.739 kg of marijuana, 47,082 kg of hashish oil, 1,968 kg of ganja chocolate, 3,180 kg of poppy straw, 2,450 kg of opium, 272.55 grams of heroin, 8.31 grams of 7prazolam, 250 grams of MDMA charas, three marijuana plants and 15 grams of other narcotics substances. The total value of the contraband destroyed was estimated at ₹31,99,80,186.

Police said the disposal was done in the presence of members of the Drug Disposal Committee, including other DCP (Crime) Ch. Rameshwar, ACP (CCRB) J. Ramesh Kumar and C-Section Superintendent Raghu Chandra along with other police officials.

The commissioner said the major seizures were made through continuous surveillance, vehicle checks and heightened vigilance on national highways passing through its borders.
