According to a report, a school bus dropping off children at home got stuck near Sector 53 on Tuesday afternoon. It took paramedics and police nearly an hour to pull the vehicle out of the pit.

In a separate incident, a stretch of road in Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway caved in, forcing traffic police to divert vehicles via the Dwarka Expressway and the Southern Peripheral Road, worsening traffic jams, The Indian Express reported.

However, the agency acknowledged temporary water accumulation on Sheetla Mata Road and the Mayfield Gardens-Sispal Vihar stretch where engineering teams have been deployed.

Residents are venting their frustration

However, residents have criticized the recurring monsoon chaos in the city.

Chaitali Mandhotra, a resident of Ardee City, sarcastically thanked the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) for “cleaning funds and not sewage”.

Nirvana resident Ruchika Sethi said that while Gurugram is one of India’s biggest revenue generators, the city continues to be seen primarily as an investment destination with insufficient infrastructure spending. She added that residents deserved more than to fear flooded roads every monsoon.

Civic agencies claimed that this year’s floods were less severe than previous years. An MCG spokesman said engineering teams, sanitation workers and field workers were deployed across the city with tractor-mounted pumps, dewatering pumps and suction tanks. The spokesman added that improved sewerage connectivity has enabled faster treatment of stormwater in several areas.
