‘Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir should gracefully step down’: Indian cricket fans furious after India vs England T20 3 | Today’s news
India suffered a heavy defeat by 125 runs against England in the 3rd T20I. The reigning T20 World Cup champions are struggling badly right now. They are still looking for a first T20I win under Iyer. Ireland had earlier whitewashed India 2-0 before this series.
Social media users didn’t mince words when reacting to yet another crushing defeat. Indian cricket fans have been talking about many issues.
“Not enough effort! If the batsmen try to hit every ball for the Sixers, the result will be this! They must understand that they are not playing on IPL pitches or the match is not in Dharamshala or Chandigarh!” wrote one of them.
“If this team continues they won’t even win against Pakistan women’s team. Replace useless coaches and get back senior players and build a team and not with IPL performance,” another user wrote.
One user pointed out, “You deserve it for dethroning the captain (Surya) and man of the series (Sanju) of the World Cup winning team. Chahal is your best rider in the country and he is not even in the team.”
Suryakumar Yadav was earlier dropped as captain due to poor form. He also completely lost his place in the lineup. Sanju Samson, though in the squad, was not part of the playing XI.
“Who is the scapegoat now? Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir should step down gracefully. You can’t keep promoting Mumbai and Delhi players…” chimed in another.
One Indian cricket fan commented, “Everybody wants to be a slogger.. quick fame, quick money.. Nobody cares about real cricket anymore.”
“Everybody in the team wants to be the next Vaibhav Sooryavanshi now. One of the worst games played. Too casual to be Team India,” wrote another fan.
India now lead England 2-0 with the 5 match series unbeaten.
Captain Shreyas Iyer then called the batting performance “atrocious”. According to him, losing by such a margin is completely unacceptable.
Iyer said the pitch is not really a 200-run wicket. Phil Salt’s superb 70 off 44 balls put England in the lead. Iyer conceded that India lost 5 wickets during the power play.
He felt India’s batting collapse created unstoppable early momentum for England. He insisted the team had to go back to the drawing board.
India vs England 3rd T20: What Happened?
India won the toss and chose to field first. England posted an impressive 201/7 in their 20 overs. Phil Salt scored an incredible 70 off just 44 balls. Sam Curran added an unbeaten 41 at the end of the innings.
India’s batting then collapsed dramatically in response. They were bundled out for just 76 runs. That was just 11.4 overs, their second lowest total ever.
Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue destroyed India’s top order early. India slumped to 52/5 during the power over itself. Only 4 batsmen reached double figures during the innings.
England beat India by 125 runs at Trent Bridge. This marked India’s heaviest ever T20I defeat by runs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan both top score with 13. Shreyas Iyer’s winless streak as captain now stands at 5 matches.
