The company claims that the Wayanad tunnel project followed all safety norms

Dilip Buildcon Limited, the company entrusted with the construction of the Wayanad (Anakkampoyil–Kalladi–Meppadi) Tunnel Road connecting Kozhikode and Wayanad, said the project is being executed in strict compliance with all applicable technical, safety and environmental approvals and protocols.

Reacting to the debris slide near the entrance of the under-construction tunnel project at Kalladi near Meppadi in Wayanad, Company Secretary Abhishek Shrivastava on Tuesday said that due to its location in an ecologically sensitive area, the project is subject to numerous regulatory oversight and monitoring mechanisms, including oversight by the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee, and that all excavated material has been approved as per the methodology.

“With such additional and stringent compliance procedures, the margin for technical error remains very limited. We remain fully committed to cooperating with the investigation and will continue to share verified information as it becomes available. Our goal remains to support rescue efforts and support the affected families at this difficult time,” Mr. Shrivastava said in a statement.
