Telangana Activists Social Policy Policy After Consultation: Ponnam

BC Transport and Social Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the suggestions submitted by the student activists and the families of the martyrs will be scrutinized and incorporated in the committee’s report.

A high-level Telangana government committee set up to identify Telangana movement activists and recommend welfare measures held a meeting with Kakatiya University (KU) student activists at the Martyrs Complex opposite the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Prabhakar said that the contributions of students from Kakatiya University and Osmania University to the Telangana movement were historic. He said the government’s aim is not limited to recognizing activists but also ensuring their social and economic welfare through meaningful social initiatives. He also added that the committee would submit its recommendations to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and work to ensure justice and social support for the activists’ families.

During the interaction, student activists put forward several proposals and called on the government to introduce comprehensive social measures in areas such as employment, higher education, health care, housing, pensions and financial security for activists and their families. They also sought permanent welfare measures and greater recognition for those who participated in the Telangana movement.

Committee members MLC M. Kodandaram, Addanki Dayakar, S. Ramulu Nayak and Mothe Shobhan Reddy attended the meeting.
