Petrol prices rose by ₹ 3.21 per litre, taking the revised rate to ₹ 106.17 per litre, while diesel prices rose by ₹ 3.11 per liter to ₹ 94.10 per liter in Bengaluru on Friday after oil marketing companies implemented new rates across categories.
The spike has sparked public outrage, with many citizens expressing concern over the growing traffic burden and daily expenses. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed the Union government, calling the fuel price hike an “anti-people decision”.
In a statement, Mr Siddaramaiah accused the Narendra Modi-led government of “punishing the people for their own failures”.
He argued that the centre’s failed foreign policy, poor economic management and inflation management have forced ordinary citizens to bear the brunt of rising fuel prices.
