As part of Operation RAGEPILL, the government recently busted drug smuggling and seized jihadist drug ‘Captagon’ worth ₹182 million. This is the first ever confiscation of Captagon, the illicitly manufactured phenethylline family of drugs, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The confiscated item is worth almost 182 million. In the case, a foreign national who was part of a drug shipment bound for West Asia was detained.
According to a statement by the Union Home Minister, Indian territory was used by drug traffickers as a transit route, but the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) identified and tracked down the crime scene in time. Appreciating NCB’s vigilance, Amit Shah in his post on X said, “The Modi government is committed to a ‘Drug Free India’. I am happy to share that through ‘Operation RAGEPILL’, our agencies have achieved the first ever seizure of Captagon, the so-called ‘Jihad drug’ worth”. ₹182 million.”
He added, “The busting of a drug consignment bound for the Middle East and the arrest of a foreign national stand out as shining examples of our commitment to zero tolerance against drugs. I reiterate that we will take action against every gram of drugs that enters India or leaves the country using our territory as a transit route. Kudos to the brave and vigilant fighters of the NCB.”
