Tamil Nadu Government signs ₹1,000 crore MoU with Hitachi for expansion projects at Porur, Chengalpattu

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Tamil Nadu and Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Chennai Secretariat for the expansion of Hitachi’s Porur plant and Hitachi Energy India Limited’s Chengal plant.
According to an official release, the two projects will involve an investment of ₹1,000 crore and will create 1,000 highly skilled technology jobs. Expansion projects will be implemented over the next three to five years.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries S. Keerthana, Principal Secretary M. Sai Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary for Industries, Investment Promotion and Trade S. Vijayakumar; Guidance Tamil Nadu Managing Director and CEO Deepak Jacob; Hitachi India Managing Director Venu Nuguri; Director of Growth and Strategy Karthik Krishnamoorthy; and high officials were present.
