
Authorities have beefed up security ahead of the visit of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district on May 15, where the foundation stone is scheduled to be laid for the Rs 1,00,000 crore fifth-generation fighter jet manufacturing project spread over an area of 650 acres.
District Collector A. Shyam Prasad said on Wednesday that the proposed defense manufacturing plant is expected to become a major aerospace and defense hub in the region and create large-scale direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Mr. Shyam Prasad inspected the venue of the public meeting at Beedupalli village in Puttaparthi mandal and reviewed the arrangement of the programme. The Collector directed the concerned departments to coordinate closely to ensure smooth running of the event and avoid any inconvenience to the public. He also instructed officials to keep electricity, medical and fire services on standby at the site.
Separately, Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar reviewed the security arrangements with police officers from the sector at the district police station. He reviewed the security arrangements at the Sri Sathya Sai Airport, along the convoy routes and at the rendezvous point. Police officers have been instructed to ensure round-the-clock traffic control for VIP and public transport vehicles. Mr. Satish Kumar later inspected barricades, parking arrangements, entry points and crowd management arrangements with senior officers.

Police officials also reviewed the arrangements regarding the visit of IT Minister Nara Lokesh on May 14 to Battalapalli in the district to attend a program at RDT Hospital.
