
A day after the National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled NEET 2026 after its paper was leaked, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a man in connection with the NEET 2026 paper leak case. The man has been identified as Shubhak Khairnar.
Crime Branch 2 of the Nashik Police arrested 30-year-old Shubham Khairnar from Maharashtra’s Nashik district. According to reports, Shubham Khairnar is a resident of Nandgaon in the district.
He was picked up from Indiranagar area of the city, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kirankumar Chauhan said on the request of the Rajasthan Police.
According to the report, Shubham Khairnar is a student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). He is a resident of Nandgaon, Nashik. To avoid arrest, Shubham cut his hair short in an attempt to change his appearance, but the police identified and arrested him by comparing his appearance with older photographs.
He was reportedly going to the temple when he was arrested.
The leaked question paper of NEET 2026 was circulated as a ‘guess paper’ and had uncanny similarities to the actual question paper of the exam. Reports suggested that Shubham Khairnar bought ‘estimate paper’ ₹10 lakh and sold them to aspirants for ₹15 crores, earnings ₹5 million from each trade.
