
Security has been tightened at key locations in Kolkata today ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the first BJP government in West Bengal, including Chief Minister-designate Suvendu Adhikari’s residence, Brigade Parade Grounds and outside CM Mamata Banerjee’s former residence in Kalighat.
Heavy security has been deployed outside Mr Adhikari’s Chinar Park residence in Kolkata.
Security has also been beefed up at the RCTC Ground, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to land before attending the ceremony.
A multi-layered security apparatus, including central forces and Kolkata Police personnel, has been deployed at the Brigade Parade Grounds, where the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP government was held.
CRPF personnel were deployed outside Ms. Banerjee’s Kalighat residence amid heightened political activity in the city.
