Campaigning for the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Tuesday (April 21, 2026). A vote will be held in 152 mandates in 16 districts and roughly 3.60 million voters will determine the fate of 1452 candidates.
All districts in North Bengal and a few districts in South Bengal will go to polls on Thursday (April 23, 2026). In the north, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinjapur and Malda constituencies will vote. In South Bengal, Murshidabad, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram will go to polls.
