
A pile collapsed in Bihar’s capital Patna on Friday due to heavy rain and strong winds. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident. A video shared by news agency PTI shows the hoarding being thrown into the air before crashing to the ground.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds for parts of India as the pre-monsoon season gathers pace.
Thunderstorms with wind speed of 50–60 km/h, gusts up to 70 km/h were forecast for Bihar on 8 and 9 May.
The meteorological department has also issued an orange alert for West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Patna, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Aurangabad, Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Nawada, Gaya and Bhojpur.
