Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore claimed that the Congress pulled out of the DMK alliance only after looking at the DMK’s proposal in association with the AIADMK.
In a post on social media, he said that “two Dravidian parties who are lifelong enemies have come together overnight… Their claim of forming a stable government is only political language to protect their power,” he said.
Formation of TN Government LIVE
The proposed merger between the DMK and its arch-rival AIADMK is not in the interest of Tamil Nadu or to promote secularism, but to prevent TVK founder C. Joseph Vijay from forming a government in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Tagore charged.
Mr Tagore said the DMK could not claim to be a secular party by allying itself with the AIADMK, which he described as the ‘B’ team of the RSS and the BJP.
The Congress was right to leave the DMK alliance, Mr. Tagore said.
“Will DMK be exposed today? Who is the traitor?” countered the Congress MP, retaliating against the DMK’s accusation that the Congress was a traitor and taking a jab at the alliance partners.
