ILT20 CEO David White EXCLUSIVE: On Season 4, the growth, challenges and connections of the IPL“We changed the window for Season 4 because of the clash with the ICC World Cup in India. We changed the window and moved it forward, which was very successful. We had great player availability. Our commercial metrics were very good,” he told TimesofIndia.com.Scheduling tweaks translated into overall gains.“Our broadcast numbers are up and it’s been well received by all the teams, commercial partners etc.”Building on this momentum, the ILT20 has moved even earlier this year, with the tournament running from November 22nd to December 20th.“But what we’ve done this year is we’ve moved the window forward even further. So we’re starting from November 22 to December 20, and we believe it’s going to be a fantastic window.”The reason is clear – create a largely uncluttered space in the increasingly crowded global T20 calendar.“We believe it will be a cleaner window. There will be no overlap with other T20 leagues around the world. Small, I think about 4 days overlap with the Big Bash (League). But other than that, a very clean window.”

That clarity is already translating into more player interest, White said.“And we’re already getting great feedback that we can have great player availability from world-class players from all over the world. So we’re really looking forward to it.”In addition to the schedule, the league is also sharpening its regional identity and focus on development. The ILT20 is being built not only as a tournament in the UAE, but as a wider platform in the Persian Gulf.“We will continue to build on last year’s success of working with the Kuwaiti players and the Saudi Arabian players. This is really building momentum as we see ourselves not only as a UAE league but also as a league representing the GCC region,” said the former New Zealand cricketer and managing director.Player development, particularly for associate nations, remains central to the league’s structure.

How do you feel about the expansion of your regional identity ILT20?
“We are proud to make it compulsory for an Associate to be part of the Playing XI. This is really well received and is also a big part of the development program for Associates.”With preparations underway, the focus now shifts to squad building and trade alignment.“The planning is going really well. We are working incredibly hard in terms of working with our business partners and our teams.”“And in the next 4-6 weeks I think we’ll have the first wave of announcements about player retention.
