Was Thalapathy Vijay already sure of becoming the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu? A viral post revealed a shocking detail about his latest release, Greatest of All Time (GOAT), apparently confirming this.
The viral post includes a clip from a Tamil film. Actor Vijay is sitting in a car. The license plate of the car says: CM 2026
“TVK set up in February 2024. The Greatest of All Time release in September 2024. Check out the car number. TN 07 CM 2026. Election results out first on cinema screens. Top detail from Venkat Prabhu in Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT,” the viral post read.

However, social media users had a mixed reaction. Their answers went beyond the car number. Some expressed displeasure with Vijay becoming the next CM.
“He should book car number TN 01 CM 2026 first TN citizen,” said one social media user.
“You don’t need any credentials except you must be a big star in the South,” was the sarcastic comment.
“Will promote Christian conversions, very dangerous… for Tamilnadu,” came another user.
Another user wrote: “Simply lucky, a number for a select few.”
“My leg. A movie clown is always a movie clown. Zombies who voted for a movie clown are always zombies. Politically illiterate,” another user slammed.
At the same time, actor Vijay’s fan following remains massive in the state.
Meanwhile, one user called him “bigger than MGR”.

“Just 10 campaigns, a couple of roadshows, the Karur dash, a handful of meetings in 5 star hotels. Still, look at these numbers,” the user wrote.
“No one can attract such a huge crowd and votes like Vijay. I don’t think even Amitabh Bachchan or any other Bollywood superstar would have won so easily in their first election,” wrote another user.
For the uninitiated, Amitabh Bachchan famously contested and won a landslide victory in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections. He contested from his hometown, Allahabad (now Prayagraj).
He ran on an Indian National Congress ticket and defeated former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna by a record margin of over 1.87 million votes.
The election followed shortly after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Congress has become the only party so far to achieve ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’. In the historic election, Rajiv Gandhi’s party secured a record 414 seats.
Thalapathy Vijay: Next Tamil Nadu CM?
Actor-turned-politician Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is set to become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He is scheduled to be sworn in on May 7. The ceremony will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
TVK made a historic debut in the 2026 council elections. The party emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats. This is 10 seats short of the 118 seats of a simple majority.

The 234-member council requires 118 seats for a clear majority. Vijay is expected to form a coalition government with smaller parties and independents.
TVK’s victory meant a great political uproar. The party ousted the DMK, which slipped to third place.
TVK candidate VS Babu defeated incumbent Chief Minister MK Stalin in Kolathur. Governor Rajendra Arlekar accepted Stalin’s resignation. Vijay is expected to formally stake his claim to power soon.
