The ball, which has been led by the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) since 2021, with four by-election wins followed by a stellar show in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and local polls in December last year catapulted the alliance from a decade-long political wilderness back into the State Assembly coffers.
All the three main contenders for the chief ministerial post – Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan, Congress Working Committee standing invitee Ramesh Chennithala and AICC General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal – attributed the massive victory to cohesive teamwork within the alliance, often described as Team UDF, assurances and assurances to the people, loyalty and reassurance. and the nepotism of the outgoing Left Democratic Front government.
