
Ayush Mhatre (BCCI Photo) MUMBAI: Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings batsman Ayush Mhatre is likely to be out for the next few months with a hamstring injury as well as a wrist injury, TOI has learnt.“Ayush not only has a left hamstring injury but has also been diagnosed with a wrist injury. He is now likely to be out for a few months,” a source following the development told TOI on Monday.

The teenage batsman was retained by the Triumph Knights along with India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav.Mhatre was earlier ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury. The 18-year-old sustained the injury while batting during CSK’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.“Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery,” CSK wrote on social media.“Unfortunately it looks pretty bad. It’s going to be a big, big loss because he was really nice for us,” CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said of Mhatra’s hamstring injury.Mhatre scored 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87 in IPL 2026 before an injury sidelined him.
