The early counting of data for the big state elections in 2026 has sparked a shift in many political scenarios while heralding a day of watching the census with bated breath. West Bengal was a toss-up, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just ahead of the All India Trinamool Congress, according to data from the Election Commission of India at 10:45 a.m., with only 2-4 rounds of voting counted. Tamil Nadu’s twin star centered around Dravidian politics, alternating between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), was disrupted by the decisive entry of actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as the third axis. An anti-incumbency cycle was resumed in Kerala, which was broken in 2021. In the midst of this, Assam and Puducherry voted for the status quo.
