Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory ahead of Guruji’s birthday celebrations on Tuesday: Here’s what we know | Today’s news
The Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued a traffic alert ahead of Guruji’s birthday celebrations at Guruji Ashram, Bhatti Mines, on Tuesday.
In a post on X, the Delhi Traffic Police wrote, “Special traffic arrangements are in place in connection with Guruji’s birthday celebrations at Guruji Ashram, Bhatti Mines on 07/06/2026. A large number of devotees are expected to attend and traffic movement is likely to remain affected from intermission till late night on 06/07/2026.”
It further read, “The religious congregation will be held on 07/06/2026 (Tuesday) at Guruji Ashram, B-13, Bhatti Mines, Mehrauli, New Delhi. A large number of devotees from all over India, including VIPs and dignitaries, are expected to attend the celebrations. Devotees will start arriving 06-26 on the night of 27/07 and the dispersal is expected to continue till the end 07/06/2026 to ensure smooth traffic management, Delhi Traffic Police advises to avoid the affected routes and plan their journeys accordingly.”
Traffic alert ahead of Guruji’s birthday celebrations
The Delhi Traffic Police has listed several routes that could be affected, including SSN Marg (Chhattarpur Road), Bhatti Mines Road, Gadaipur Police Post area and roads around Guruji Ashram, Bhatti Mines. In addition, devotees have been advised to reach the ashram before 5:00 am to avoid congestion and have also been advised to avoid the affected routes and use alternate routes whenever possible.
Delhi Traffic Police has shared a detailed plan to minimize traffic jams. Entry to Guruji’s Ashram will be allowed through SSN Marg for all devotees and all categories of vehicles. In addition, separate entry arrangements have been made for different categories of vehicles and visitors.
The traffic police also installed information signage around the venue for the convenience and guidance of motorists.
To ensure hassle-free parking for devotees and invitees, traffic police have also made adequate parking arrangements at the Guruji Ashram complex for all categories of vehicles. Additionally, the organizers have put up sufficient informative signage for the convenience of the devotees. Traffic police have banned parking on SSN Marg, saying that vehicles parked improperly on the road will be towed and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Delhi Traffic Police has also restricted the movement of heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) on Bhatti Mines Road, between Chhattarpur Road (SSN Marg) and Gurugram Road T-Point, from 12:00 midnight on July 6 to 12:00 midnight on July 7 to ensure smooth flow of traffic and avoid congestion.
Who is Guruji?
Born on July 7, 1954 in Dugri village of Malerkotla tehsil in Punjab, Guruji was also known as Nirmal Singh Ji Maharaj, according to the official website. He earned a double master’s degree in English and economics from the Malerkotla, but left everything in 1975 to devote his life to quiet spiritual service. He sat at various places including Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Panchkula and New Delhi.
On May 31, 2007, he attained mahāsamadhi (renunciation of the mortal body), but devotees still experience his presence today.
